Loretta Abbate

TODAY'S WOMAN:                 QUIETLY IN COMMAND

Enriched by tradition. Defined by achievement. Loretta Abbate is an American original. User
friendly. Taking care of business with focus and élan.

Now serving her 6h term as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian American Civic
Aw,ciation. Also, at the same time, her 1st term as President of the Jialian American War
Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.  Her name derives from Laura...in Latin, Laurus meaning        `a
laurel or tree," symbol of victory. And victory is what Loretta is all about. On this bountiful
and fragile planet we call Home, we can ignore our neighbor. or do a kindness and make our
lives sublime. Always lorettas choice.  A woman of taste and discernment.         A presence.
From managing a bingo kitchen Eu helping with a charity fundraiser.

Scholars teach us about the contributions of women in government and politics. From Pharaoh Hatshepsut in ancient Egypt to
Cleopatra   Isabella , Catherine the Great, Queen Victoria.     and the possibility of our next U.S. President. Not to worry. We
have our OWE! special lady at LACA.

Loretta was born in Brooklyn, New York. Later graduated from an all-girls high school, Prospect Heights.        The clay after she
completed school, she started on her first job as secretary with a fine jewelry firm near Rockefeller Center.   She spent many a
lunch hour watching people skating at the ice rink at Rockefeller Center. Also, she and a group of friends began to attend the most
popular Broadway shows. Life was good in Manhattan in those days.
Then Loretta decided to take advantage of extra schooling so she could get another job as bookkeeper in the Empire State Building
~ 3gEi Street across from Macy's. As fate would have it, she was hired by the J.P Stevens textile company (believe it or not, the
very same company Les Rossi worked for in later years). Subsequently,        Loretta continued to advance in her career,. this time
with a  dream" job at Shell Oil Co. which treated her like royalty.. .quarterl~ bonus, sick pay, three weeks vacation. Those were
the days. Could things get any better? Yes. Because it was then that Loretta met her future husband, Vincent (who later served as
President. and still serves as a Director of IACA). They married and moved to Seaford, Long Hand to raise a family.

They relocated to Vero Beach.. .Iorelta called it "Zero Beach'   in 1978. In those days, the city was `zero" compared with today.
The Press-Journal published only on Wednesdays and Sundays. printed only local news. There were a few TV stations. Downtown
Miracle Mile had F.W. Woolworth where Winn-Dixie is now, The Vero Mall had J.C. Penney and J. Byron's and 32 little stores.

It didn't take long for Loretta to land a job in the new community. Her bookkeeping skills latinehed her on a second career lasting
5 more years. First, with a major construction company and then a real estate firm. Next, with a maker of line custom cabinets.
Followed by an interior decorating firm commissioned by homeowners on John's Island, The Moorings, and Rio Mar. Then, when
her son, Vincent; opened his own business.. Creative Tile, Marble and Granite.. Loretta set up control systems including payroll
and taxes and worked with the company CPA.

As mentioned, Vincent is an entrepreneur with his own profit center.    Vincent's family now has twins.        Another son with a
successful career is Richard, Sales Manager of 3 auto dealerships in Stuart..  Jeep, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen.

Loretta and husband Vincent joined IACA in 1980. At one time or another, Loretta served as President or Officer or Director of
the Auxiliary. In tact she started out as Recording Secretary two months after joining. At Christmas time, she initiated the practice
of a free Christmas dinner for her members who volunteered to help out on projects. She was always very active in the Auxiliary,
served as President five times before her present term.

Obviously, something   happened when Loretta and husband Vincent came to town. They simply followed Mark Twain's advice
for success.

Always do right. This will gratify some people. And astonish the rest." Loretta Abbate has some experience about always trying
to do the right thing, and she probably did astonish a few people along the way.         Good for you, Loretta. You are truly a
masterwork of the human spirit.

LIGHT HER FIRE WITH MOZZARELLA
One of the worlds oldest,  and newest...incentives to romance. You say she'd rather
have diamonds?     Perhaps. Kisses? Sure. But mozzarella? Yes, Yes, Yes, A sublime
delicacy. Hard to resist. So good it's sinful. And you don't eveil have to be Italian.

Pure passion in protein and vitamins. Forget your magic lotions and potions and herbs.
The ancient Egyptians apparently had it all figured out.

Legend has it that 2,000 years ago, Anthony and Cleopatra cruised the Nile on a barge
pulled by water buffalo, feasting on mozzarella made from the buffalo's milk.
Anthony later sent the buffalo to Julius Caesar...with instructions on how to turn the
milk into mozzarella. And the rest is history.

Today, at The Fresh Mozzarella Co., we're building our own legends with updated
versioris .. some still made from buffalo milk ("which tastes like eating flowers,
according to one trade publication)..others made with 100% whole cow's milk, Still
fit for an emperor. And now available to you from our centrally-located headquarters
in Wabasso, Florida.

The Latticini Company. a renowned manufacturer and importer of Italian cheeses, with prominent retail and foodscn'ice accounts in 35 cities nationwide, was founded in thc town of Lioni in the Avellino region of Italy more than 100 years ago. Entry into the U.S. market was in 1977 in Brooklyn. New York.

Over the years the Latticini Company became a role model for corporate America.  building an empire on a cheese product which earned two world championships (Wisconsin Cheesemakers in 1996 and again in 2002) and other honors at trade shows in markets such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco. Also carried editorial recognition in important media including The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, and the Gourmet News.      Last June The Philadelphia Inquirer conducted a blind tasting of locally available mozzarella products, and Lioni finished first.

It's not a bad habit to cultivate, and Jeff Silver plans to keep it that way...finishing first in customer satisfaction.  As far as he's concerned, when you have everything else, all you really need is rhe world's best mozzarella.
