Michael Policare

His Honor. . . The "Mayor" of South Beach
Member Profile-(by Les Rossi)

He's been to China. Going to Rome.
But his friends don't have to go far. On
weekends and holidays they can always
find the "Mayor" of South Beach on his
very own 10 square feet of Vero Beach.

But did    they  know   he's  also  a
President?   A   past  President?  A
Treasurer?     And  a  Co-Chairman?
Collects titles like the grains of sand on
his beloved South Beach.

Mike Policare also has a day job...as
Vero Beach Branch Manager at the
biggest lending  institution on earth,
CitiGroup. Specializing in indirect auto
financing through dealerships. Staff of five.

You could call it a steady job.

A post he has held in five states for the past 27 years. Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kansas,
West Virginia, Florida.  Plus two years earlier with the same firm as management
trainee. Once named Branch Manager of the Year out of 35 Florida branches.

But he always finds time for his real passion...community service.

Our new Treasurer at the Italian American Civic Association. Deeply involved in IACA
scholarship program. Current President of one local Kiwanis Club (which meets in the
evenings). Past President of another local Kiwanis Club (which meets for lunch). Plus
Co-Chairman of St. Helen's Annual Harvest Festival.

Grew   up near Philadelphia where he graduated from Temple University with a
Bachelors Degree in American History and Political Science. Vice President of Sigma
Pi fraternity.

Community service seems to run in the family.  His grandfather lived in Pittston,
Pennsylvania where he was founder and longtime member of the local Italian American
Civic Association.

Say hello to Michael J. Policarc.,. what community service
is all about. In his spare time, he also plays golf
and lifts weights.

Frank Baudo

Minute Man on a Mission
As far as we know, Frank Baudo never wrote comedy, like so many of his modern
day fraternal/charitable counterparts (one of them worked for Bob Hope).

Never battled the Romans in the fifth century.  His surname comes from the
German "baldus" meaning "courageous     His given lame means a free man' in
Old French.. also derives from the Franks, a confederacy of German tribes who
fought the Romans before settling in Gaul.

Was never even a Minute Man ready to `march or fight at a minute's notice" in
the American Revolution.

But simply today's edition of a  minute man" who gives his hours so generously
to our Club and our community by taking minutes as Recording Secretary.

What we do know, from an interview (conducted by a former recording secretary himself), is that Frank Baudo
rates a round of applause as a consummate professional. The man, who also likes to write creatively, is up to the
challenge., writing for the record, but with an occasional wry comment between the lines.. his words dancing
lightly across the page.

He was born in The Bronx, moved a year later to East New York in Brooklyn.  Frank was educated at St.
Malachy's Elementary School, followed by Delehanty High School and Eastern Military Academy. Later he
earned the BRA. degree in Marketing from St. John's University. In the pre-Vietnam era, Frank subsequently
-served as a Corporal and radio operator in the U.S. Marine Corps ...received an honorable discharge after 5 years.
Frank was now ready to launch an illustrious 30-year management career, primarily in the high-end furniture
industry. Notably the Herman Miller Company in Manhattan.  Later he rose to Vice President and a Partner at
The American Seating Company His wife, Connie, meantime had been a New York City schoolteacher. Later
she. too, was in sales and management for 18 years.. mainly with the renowned Novartis Pharmaceutical
Company. Frank arid Connie retired 3 years ago and relocated to Vero Beach. They have a son, Thomas, an MD, with a specialty in ophthalmology, particularly diseases of the retina. His wife, Nicole, is a nurse practitioner and
psychiatrist. Thomas and Nicole have two sons.. Ryan 3, and Andrew, a year and a halt.

Frank Baudo is active not only in the Italian American Civic Association as Recording Secretary for the past two
years. But he also serves as Treasurer of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Business and Education
Committee of the Vero Beach Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Arbor Trace Homeowners
Association, and member of the Stuart Corvette Club. He also has served as consultant in development of business
pans and other marketing tools for small local businesses in Vero Beach. Like most successful men, Frank has
eclectic tastes and interests. World War Two historian. Writing promotional literalure. Corvettes and other luxury
cars. Tennis. Golf Movies. Dining. Travel.

Like most men. of honor and decency, he also finds time to help someone in need. Ironically Frank, whose father
was a New York City firefighter for 35 years, received a Nassau County Police award for rescuing a man from a
burning auto.

The true measure of a man.

When he risks his own life to save another.
