IACA APPROACHES THE BiG FIVE 0

That is, the age of our Club. In a few months, in 2008. IACA will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Some dispute about the Founding date (some claim it was earlier). But ‘officially" we are saying the founding year was 1958 (when Alphonse Tetti was our first president).

Turns out 1958 was an eventful year.

The invention of Navy bean soup. The 7/8 oz. Hershey bar at 5 cents. A Chevrolet Corvette at $3.631 ... and a gallon of gas for 25 cents. Budget Rent-A-Car renting you an auto for $5 per day and 5 cents per mile. The beginning of Pizza Hut and I-Hop (International House of Pancakes). The New York baseball Giants moving to San Francisco. The Brooklyn Dodgers leaving for Los Angeles.

You may also recall the average cost of a new house was $ 12,750. And the average monthly rent was $92. Americans bought 100-million Hula Hoops. And a Ronson electric shaver for $ 12.88. Alaska joined the Union as 49th State. Jif peanut butter entered our world. And Golfer Arnold Palmer won his first Masters. Boxer Sugar Ray Robinson regained his middleweight title for the fifth time. And we learned to love our Rice-A-Roni.

Ah yes. The good old days. And some of us still remember. L.R.

 Christmas Party 2007

This year the I.A.C.A.V.B. had  a great christmas Party held on Saturday Night. There was great food served by Rocky Lewis and his staff along with fabulous deserts made by the women's auxillary. Everyone had plenty of food and drink
along with dancing and music. With the new renovations and the decorating by the woman's auxillary the club turned into
a magical place . The above pictures show only a small part of the magic. Come to our dinners and New Years Eve Gala
and you will share the magic and fun of our club.
 Regular Friends vs. Italian Friends
Regular Friends: never ask for food.
Italian Friends: are the reason you have food.
Regular Friends: will eat at your table and leave.
Italian Friends: will spend hours eating, then help you clean up.
Regular Friends: are for a while.
Italian Friends: are for life.
